24 Things About Me:

1. I’m originally from Texas, but don’t have much of an accent.

2. I began playing violin when I was 10.

3. I’m an Aquarius, but I don’t think Zodiac has had any impact on my life whatsoever.

4. I’ve run two marathons (DC and NY).

5. When I was young, I wanted to be a herpetologist.

6. I’m old enough to remember life before CD’s and cellphones, even life before the Internet.

7. My favorite pet was a one-eyed stray dog named Pierre.

8. An online survey described my personality as INFP, but I really don’t think surveys are very strong sources of data.

9. I’ve hiked in the Alps.

10. My family is larger than many, but smaller than others.

11. Skiing has to be my most favorite thing in life that I can’t afford.

12. My favorite composer is Sergei Prokofieff (of Peter and the Wolf, among others).

13. My favorite philosopher is Max Scheler.

14. I can’t really get into American Idol, but some of the auditions are pretty funny.

15. I don’t think lists can adequately capture someone’s personality.

16. I worked for Yale’s rare books library.

17. Palindromes are my favorite numbers, but I can’t really get into palindromic sentences.

18. Is this world the best of all possible worlds? Probably not..

19. I love juggling.

20. I try not to take life too seriously, although oftentimes fail.

21. I’ve had enough fill of sarcasm to last ten lifespans.

22. I never thought I would want to live in China.

23. Lists like these are hard for me to write.

24. If I were stranded on a desert island.. give me a few good philosophy books, an iPod mix of Beethoven symphonies, and I’d be set.

I expect to see widespread reading of Max Scheler by the Chinese in a few years. Share the legend!

Hola Juan Miguel! (or should I say, Rambo Schwartzenegger? How’s that going for you?)

I was just checking in on the latest, and I clicked on “about JM” – I miss my brother!!! I like your answers, they are very “you”. but I stand corrected for #22 – I keep telling people “Well John Michael always wanted to live in China!” I’m not sure where I came up with that… sorry!

    Love you!
